Fruit Wine? I Thought all Wine was Made from Fruit.

Fruit wine, also known as ‘country wine’, has existed for thousands of years—longer than many grape winemaking techniques. Made primarily from stone fruits—think peaches—and berries in North America, Bananas in parts of Africa, and apples and pears in Europe, let’s not forget flowers like dandelion, elderflower, and rose these wines – All of these options provide a delightful alternative to wines made from grapes.

Fruit wine, like those made from grapes, comes in a variety of styles: sweet, dry, fortified, sparkling, and ice wines. Often country wines require support in the production phase that grape wines do not, most notably the addition of sucrose and water. Yielding wines that are complex and varied. So grab a glass of your favorite strawberry wine, a cold can of Lacroix, and lime, I promise you won’t be sorry.

The more you know.
